#BODOLAND STIR CAUSES NE RAIL DELAYS

Train movement was affected for around 10 hours since early yesterday morning in north Bengal, Assam and Bihar because of a rail roko by the All Bodo Students' Union and its allied organisations in two lower Assam districts to demand a separate Bodoland state.

The blockade prompted the Northeast Frontier Railways (NFR) to halt at least 21 long distance express trains, including Rajdhani Express, at different stations in north Bengal and Assam, causing inconvenience to thousands of passengers.

The blockade was later reduced by two hours till 3pm and the train movement resumed soon afterwards.

While 12 trains were bound for the Northeast, the remaining nine were heading from there.

Nearly 1 lakh people gathered on the tracks at Basugaon station in Chirang district and over 30,000 at Udalguri station in Udalguri district from 5am today, disrupting services in the Northeast and the rest of the country.
