More Detonators Seized From Nepal Couple Room in #Siliguri

Police last night recovered over 1,300 more detonators from the same room from where a huge cache of explosive devices had been seized on Saturday.

The rented accommodation in the Rail Gate area of Siliguri was being used by Nepalese couple, Dawa Tshering Bhutia and Puja Limbu, who were arrested on Saturday. Over 600 gelatin sticks, more than 200 detonators and around 600 metres of codex wire had been seized from the room.

Apart from the couple, another Nepalese national, Krishna Prasad Adhikary, had also been arrested.

"We have been interrogating the three arrested persons thoroughly. During interrogation, the couple revealed that they had stored some more detonators in the room where they had been staying on rent. Yesterday night, we went to the spot again and searched the furniture in the room. In total, 1,300 detonators were recovered from there. These were packed in 13 boxes, each containing 100 pieces," Indra Chakraborty, the deputy commissioner of Siliguri metropolitan police, said at a news conference at the Pradhannagar police station yesterday evening.

During the raid, police have also found two cellphones and three memory cards. "We are checking cellphones and memory cards to obtain more information," Chakraborty said.

Apart from the Siliguri police, officials of different other law enforcing agencies have also interrogated the trio. They included police teams from Nepal and Kokrajhar district in Assam.

Also, Tapas Das, a deputy inspector general of the CID, today visited Pradhannagar police station and interrogated Dawa.

Das, however, refused comment.
