PLEASE DON'T BELIEVE IN RUMOURS - Good People Abound in #Siliguri

Writes - Roshni Rai

I was in Siliguri on 30th June. I was reading on Facebook about some ralley of Anti Gorkhaland Movement in Champasari more. Our vehicle was parked there to do some shopping. Shopkeepers were happy to see us. No one was bothered whether they were selling goods to the people from hills or plains. We had a vehicle with SK no. Driver Daju told us that they are breaking vehicles with SK no but no one from Siliguri was saying us anything.  There were very few vehicles with SK no plying on the road. Each of them were asking our driver Daju how was the situation in Siliguri.  Before our driver Daju said anything, we were shouting from passenger seat 'everything is normal'. That way we managed to bring smile on their tensed face.

Again day before yesterday I was in Siliguri for whole day. In the evening I took a bus from Milan more to NJP. I did not see any Bengali trying to do anything to hill's people.  Rather I was disturbed to see public display of affection by very young Nepali boys and girls. One girl was literally sleeping in the lap of boy and another girl was sleeping on the shoulder of a boy in such a short journey.  They were very young. I thought of clicking their pic but garney lai bhanda herney lai laz. I could not click them in action.

Movement of Gorkhaland is driven by the heart and soul of Gorkhas. People are ready to die for this cause. People in Siliguri are mostly for business.  They can not sacrifice their business like the way our people are sacrificing everything for Gorkhaland.

In my opinion, whatever disturbances are happening in Siliguri in the name of Anti-Gorkhaland Movement are done by the goons of TMC, who are getting paid. This kind of things will not last long and we should not spread the baseless rumours.

We should be confident in  ourselves and our cause. No one can harm us.
