NEW DELHI: An earthquake of the magnitude 5.3 on the Richter sent tremors across northern India just past 10:33 pm. The epicentre of the earthquake was located close to Pipalkoti in Uttarakhand.
The European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) has estimated the earthquake struck at a depth of about 40 km.
The resultant tremors were felt across northern India, and were reported to have lasted over 30 seconds in some places.
Tremors were reported from Delhi-NCR, Chandigarh, Dehradun, Agra and a number of other places.
