Leopard attacks female tea worker in Mal block, tea worker seriously injured

A leopard attack at the Good Hope Tea Estate in Damdim Gram Panchayat under Mal Block seriously injured a female tea worker of the tea garden.

The leopard suddenly pounced on Sushma Soren (40) on Thursday when she was picking tea leaves at the Section No.4 of the tea estate. The attack left her seriously injured. Tea workers came to her aid and rushed her to the Super Specialty Hospital in Malbazaar.

Meanwhile, a similar leopard attack took place in Oodlabari. Oodlabari Tea Estate worker Munni Orau (42) was also attacked by a leopard at Section No.87 of the tea garden. Orau was injured during the attack and was rushed to Malbazaar Mahakuma Hospital for treatments.

The Forest Department have set up a watch at the tea estates and have also installed a cage to catch the leopard. The step is being taken to prevent further attacks on the workers.
