GDP of Bengal has more than doubled in five years: WB CM

West Bengal Chief Minister in her Facebook page informed that the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of West Bengal has more than doubled from nearly Rs.4.61 Lakh Crore in 2010-11 to Rs.9.20 Lakh Crore in 2015-16.
This quantum jump has been possible, partly due to massive increase in plan expenditure and partly due to huge creation of permanent assets in the state through increased capital expenditure.
The plan expenditure in the state has increased by nearly 4 times from Rs.14,615 Crore in 2010-11 to Rs.54,069 Crore in 2015-16 and capital expenditure has increased by nearly 7 times from Rs.2225 Crore in 2010-11 to Rs.15,946 Crore in 2015-16.
Our commitment is to take Bengal to the No.1 position in the country and my entire “Paschimbanga Paribar” is fully dedicated to this task, the West Bengal Chief minister said.

Fashion show to promote Indian attire

Women's clothing in India varies widely and is closely related to local culture, religion and climate. To promote India's unique traditional attires, Siliguri's well-known designer, Shreya Agarwal, has decided to organise a fashion show in her hometown. The show, named 'Spring n Summer Fashion Show 2016' aims to provide a platform for upcoming models and attract youngsters to Indian attire. It will be held on August 3 at Club No 17, City Centre, Siliguri.
Shreya, who earned fame at a very young age with her hard work and dedication, believes 'Work is Worship' and for her there is no word called 'impossible'.
According to Shreya, Indian attires are so rich and attractive that we do not have to turn towards Western outfits. She says, "Our culture is very rich and well recognised by eminent personalities the world over, including people attached to the international fashion industry.
We should respect our culture and tradition by wearing Indian dresses."
Model Sandhya Mitra from Bangalore will be the showstopper at the show where guests from north Bengal and Sikkim will get an opportunity to see the latest Summer 'n' Spring dresses designed by Shreya.
Siliguri girl Sandhya has started her career in modelling from Bangalore and wants to highlight Siliguri in the international fashion arena.
Anita Pradhan, head of Yakthung Hair and Beauty Academy, who has taken the responsibility for the make-up of 15 models, said the show will surely get good mileage.

New District Committee for TMC in ‪#‎Darjeeling‬ Plains - Gautam Mum on Nominations

Darjeeling district (plains) Trinamul president Gautam Deb will hand over a list of names for the proposed committee members and also other committees to be formed in lower levels in Calcutta tomorrow.
"We have held talks with district leaders and also leaders who are working in blocks and Assembly segments. Also, a core committee of the party would be formed in the district. According to instructions of our party chief Mamata Banerjee and state leaders, I have prepared a proposed list of the new district committee, the core committee and other committees to be formed at the lower levels. Tomorrow, I will hand over the list to my party colleague Aroop Biswas, who is the party's observer in Darjeeling," Deb said yesterday.
Deb did not mention any names included in the list.
Party sources said names of many of the second-rung leaders were expected to figure on the list.
"There are chances that these leaders might not be provided with important portfolios. Also, a core committee, likely to be a five-member of seven-member group, would be formed in the district and would be an important body to take decisions. There is always a probability that the leaders, about whom questions were raised by Bhaichung and state leaders, might be left out of the core committee," a Trinamul source said.
After the abysmal results of Trinamul in Darjeeling in the Assembly polls, Mamata dissolved the district committee. Ranjan Sarkar, who had been the district president since November last year, was removed from his post. At the end of last month, while Mamata was on an official tour, Deb was made the new district president of the party.
"Gautam Deb has been made the new district president in Darjeeling (plains). He will prepare a proposed list of other district committee members and portfolio holders and will submit it to the state committee. The state committee will go through the list and will approve it," Biswas said, while making the announcement.
Deb had said the entire process of forming the new district committee and other committees would be done by the middle of August.
