JUST IN: Sikkim University Professor Found Guilty of "Outraging the Modesty" of Female Colleague

Dinesh Ahirwar, one of the Professors of Sikkim University has been found guilty of "Outraging the Modesty" of another Professor of the same University, and convicted of the offence charged by the Court of Judicial Magistrate, Gangtok

Dinesh Ahirwar, from Madhya Pradesh had apparently been stalking the female professor, sending her explicit emails, and WhatsApp messages. He also entered the rented room of the victim, without any invitation, which left the victim traumatized.

He had been charged with sections 354A/354D/448/509 of the Indian Penal Code by the Ranipool Police.

The court order reads:
"1. Sentenced to undergo Rigorous Imprisonment for twelve  (12) months and a fine of five thousand rupees for committing the offence under section 354A 1 (i) of the IPC. In default of payment of the fine, he shall further undergo Simple Imprisonment of one month. 

2. Sentenced to undergo Simple Imprisonment for twelve (12) months and a fine of  five thousand rupees. In default of payment of the fine, he shall undergo  Simple Imprisonment of one month."
